School Meals

All the boys and girls – and all the teachers and staff – come together to eat at lunchtime. It’s a focal point for the entire school community.

Lunchtime is an important part of the day at Colchester High School. It’s when we come together to eat and chat, reinforcing the sense of community that makes the school such a happy place.

Every boy and girl – from nursery through to Year 8 – enjoys a hot lunchtime meal at school every day. They can choose between vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and top their selection off with a salad, a drink, and a hot or cold dessert.

The menus, which are prepared by our caterers Thomas Franks, are designed to be healthy, balanced and nutritious – boosting the children’s academic performance and behaviour in the afternoon and promoting good eating habits outside of school. The ingredients used are always fresh and regionally sourced, and wherever possible they come from GM-free, organic, free range and fair trade producers.  Below you can find links to download our current menus.

In Years 9 to 11, our pupils also have the option to enjoy hot and cold food, including paninis, soup, sandwiches and other home-cooked goods – in our on-site cafe ‘Wellesley’s’.

Please see menus here.  The lunch menus rotate on a three weekly basis and all menus are dated with the relevant week.
