EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

READY TO EXPLORE ALL THEIR TALENTS

At Colchester Prep and High School we believe that education should also provide the opportunity for your child to discover and explore new talents and to develop a curiosity about the world and people around them. Whether your child is interested in sport, music and performance, digital and creative arts, sustainability, entrepreneurship, global issues, robotics or debating, there is an activity for them.

OUR MOST POPULAR CLUBS :

STEAM

For those with a passion for STEAM, we offer clubs such as Lego or Crest Science Club, for our youngest children, and Drone or Vex Robotics Club for pupils from Year 5 to 11.

CREATIVE CLUBS

Walk past a classroom on any day of the week – at lunchtime or after school – and you might hear our choir rehearsing or children enjoying sessions on African drums, recorder or ukulele.

SPORT

Our pupils love to engage in a wide range of sports in addition to the timetabled curriculum. Depending on the season, these can include Basketball, Football, Yoga, Cricket, Netball, Rugby and Athletics to name but a few.

GLOBAL

Our pupils are living in a global world and we encourage them to be active and conscious citizens with the aspiration to make our planet more equal, fair and sustainable.

SCHOOL TRIPS

SCHOOL TRIPS EXTEND THE CLASSROOM

Trips are an integral part of the teaching process. They act to reinforce the learning experience of your child as well as teaching important aspects of global citizenship and community interaction. Trips vary depending on age.

In Prep, they might enjoy local walks to learn about the seasons, visit the local Synagogue to explore Judaism or immerse themselves in Tudor History at Layer Marney Towers. In Years 5 and 6 our pupils also experience their first residential trip where they participate in outdoor activities.

For our Senior School pupils, they can look forward to the annual Ski Trip or educational visits to Ypres and the WW1 battlefields, Berlin with its rich history, the Tate Modern to learn about artists of our time or the Globe Theatre to immerse themselves in Shakespeare or the Big Bank Science Fair.

Whatever it is, it is a source of great excitement for our children, broadening their horizons and enriching their all-round learning experience.

CPHS is a lovely family friendly school that supports the children as individuals. Our son is thriving there academically and is given lots of opportunities to further his interests through the extra curricular clubs and responsibilities he is able to take on.

OUTDOOR LEARNING

GIVING OUR PUPILS NEW EXPERIENCES

Our pupils benefit from the opportunity to attend outdoor activity trips at the Cognita Active Learning Group's Outdoor Centres. Pupils will build friendships whilst learning to cook on an open fire, throw a tomahawk, set a trap, or build a den. Or they might participate in water sports or embrace the joys of mountaineering.

Our Nursery and Reception children also enjoy weekly Forest School lessons.
