We are a parent-led group, which organises social events and fun activities for pupils, parents and staff throughout the year. Our aim is to foster the school’s sense of community and to raise funds to purchase those extra items and experiences which may not be a direct academic necessity but improve the learning environment and enrich the education of our children. In recent years this has included the provision of an outdoor classroom, the purchase of cameras for the News Team, and performances put on in the school by visiting theatre companies.

We run a variety of regular events including a Summer Fete, Christmas Bazaar, Summer Ball, discos, and refreshments at Sports Days; and we operate second-hand uniform shops for each phase of the school.

There are lots of ways to get involved – and we welcome whatever contribution you can make. You could donate an item for auction, arrange for your company to join us in a matched giving scheme, or simply bring your friends and family to our events and spend some money!

Better still, you could help us run an event. Perhaps you could serve teas for half an hour at Sports Day when your child isn’t in a race. Or you could help coordinate ticket sales for one of our discos. And, of course, you could also join our Committee. It’s a great way to stay close to the school and meet other parents, and it’s hugely rewarding to see the life of Colchester High School grow richer as a result.

The CHSA operates an on-line second-hand uniform shop that offers a range of good quality second hand uniform and sports wear as well as Spring and Winter Waterproof School Coats, legionnaire hats for Nursery and Prep and baseball hats for Juniors (the only coats and hats allowed).
