OUR APPROACH
A HAPPY, SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT TO EXPLORE
Each child receives tailored learning and individual support, while our pastoral team ensures a safe, nurturing environment for exploration and challenge. Many children choose to stay after school to enjoy a wide range of enrichment activities and clubs.
PASTORAL CARE
EVERY TEACHER GETS TO KNOW THEIR PUPILS INCREDIBLY WELL
Our teachers understand how each child learns best, when they need challenge, support, or encouragement to speak up. Led by Mrs Smith, our pastoral team addresses all aspects of wellbeing, from friendships and anxiety to self-confidence and self-esteem. With this support, children feel safe, valued, and free to focus on learning and developing their talents.
Extra Curricular & clubs
READY TO EXPLORE ALL THEIR TALENTS
Our Prep children enjoy a wealth of opportunity to develop new skills, talents and interests with over 20 different clubs available during the week.
Clubs are booked on a termly basis and may vary during the year and by year group.
JOIN US FOR AN OPEN DAY
At Colchester Prep & High School we believe it is important for children to want to be here. That is why we regularly invite parents and children to visit our school.
LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
READY TO DETERMINE THEIR PLACE IN THE WORLD
To ensure that our pupils leave our Prep School with the skills they need to become the changemakers of tomorrow's world, our pupils are presented with numerous opportunities to demonstrate leadership capacity by participating in school decisions that will actively shape their lives and the lives of their peers.
TRIPS
READY TO EXPAND THEIR HORIZONS
Our trips vary by age and offer rich, hands-on learning experiences. Recent visits have included Layer Marney Towers to explore the Tudors, Colchester Synagogue to support learning on Judaism, and Colchester Castle to immerse pupils in Roman history.
Pupils in Years 3–6 can join outdoor adventure trips with the Cognita Active Learning Group, developing teamwork while cooking on open fires, navigating woods, throwing tomahawks, and tackling high ropes.
Years 5 and 6 also enjoy a PGL summer adventure, taking part in surfing, obstacle courses, and other outdoor challenges.
