READY TO EXPLORE ALL THEIR TALENTS
At Colchester Prep & High School, education goes beyond the classroom, helping pupils uncover new talents and spark curiosity about the world.
From sport, music, and performance to digital arts, sustainability, entrepreneurship, robotics, and debating, there is an activity for every interest.
Jump down to:
STEAM
For those with a passion for STEAM, we offer clubs such as Lego or Crest Science Club, for our youngest children, and Drone or Vex Robotics Club for pupils from Year 5 to 11.
For those who want to become the next metaverse developers, we also offer Minecraft and Coding Club or they can brush up on their office skills with Microsoft Office Specialist Club or embrace their digital creativity in SketchUp Club.
CREATIVE CLUBS
Walk past a classroom on any day of the week – at lunchtime or after school – and you might hear our choir rehearsing or children enjoying sessions on African drums, recorder or ukulele.
Or head to our spacious drama suite and you could find Production Club performing or our CPHS School of Rock.
Then there are all the clubs for our resident artists including drawing, creative writing and illustration or Art Club.
We also offer Podcasting, Animation and Music Theatre Dance clubs through our education partner, the Mercury Theatre.
SPORT
Our pupils love to engage in a wide range of sports in addition to the timetabled curriculum. Depending on the season, these can include Basketball, Football, Yoga, Cricket, Netball, Rugby and Athletics to name but a few.
GLOBAL
Our pupils are living in a global world and we encourage them to be active and conscious citizens with the aspiration to make our planet more equal, fair and sustainable.
To support them in this journey, we provide a selection of enrichment clubs including Eco-Club, Rewind Jewellery Club, Diversity Club, International Cultural Experiences Club and Signing Club.
SCHOOL TRIPS
SCHOOL TRIPS EXTEND THE CLASSROOM
Trips are an integral part of our teaching, reinforcing learning while fostering global citizenship and community awareness.
Our Prep pupils enjoy local walks, historical visits, and their first residential trips in Years 5 and 6. Senior School pupils can experience educational visits to Berlin, Ypres, the Tate Modern, the Globe Theatre, or the annual Ski Trip.
Each trip broadens horizons, enriches learning, and sparks excitement for discovery.
OUTDOOR LEARNING
GIVING OUR PUPILS NEW EXPERIENCES
Pupils enjoy outdoor activity trips at Cognita Active Learning Centres, building friendships while learning skills like cooking on an open fire, den building, tomahawk throwing, water sports, and mountaineering.
Nursery and Reception children also benefit from weekly Forest School lessons.
