We believe that developing a global perspective is increasingly vital to thriving in the 21st century. Pupils are encouraged to be active and conscious citizens of the world by valuing different perspectives, caring for the world around them and giving back to the community.

We achieve this through our in-class learning and extensive enrichment programme as well as pupil leadership groups and participation in national campaigns.

Our global Cognita family also provides a platform for the continual exchange of ideas and inspiration. Our pupils also connect with other Schools within our global community in order to connect with other pupils around the world. Colchester Prep & High School pupils have enjoyed visits from pupils from Singapore, Chile and Spain.

Sustainability is embedded into the curriculum and promoted through whole school off-curriculum enrichment activities and our clubs programme, ensuring our pupils:

  • Learn from and connect with nature
  • Develop a knowledge and understanding of a world impacted by climate change and a desire to positively influence and inspire changes
  • Develop, through practical experience, the skills required for green careers and to become Climate Leaders

Through our Diversity Ambassadors, the school works to promote awareness and understanding of diversity within our school and the wider community. With teamwork and collaboration, they have created and delivered assemblies to their peers on topics including Black History Month, Diwali and Autism Awareness Month.

Ethical enterprise is embedded into learning at Colchester Prep & High School to ensure our pupils understand how to incorporate pressing global social, environmental and economic issues into their decision-making.

Through their PSHE lessons, our Young Enterprise Club and the launch of our Business GCSE in Sept 2023, our pupils learn about how business can make a positive impact on the world and how we can make it a more equal, fairer and sustainable place.

Pupils have led events to inform others about different issues or groups, through this rich experience and learning, pupils are well prepared for life in modern Britain.
