We believe that developing a global perspective is essential for thriving in the 21st century. Pupils are encouraged to value diverse perspectives, care for the world, and contribute to their communities.
Through classroom learning, enrichment programmes, leadership opportunities, and national campaigns, pupils develop as active, conscious global citizens.
Our connection to the global Cognita family allows pupils to exchange ideas and collaborate with peers worldwide, recently welcoming visitors from Singapore, Chile, and Spain.
SUSTAINABILITY
Education plays a vital role in creating a better and greener world for future generations and ensuring that pupils have the skills required to be leaders in sustainability in the 21st Century workplace.
Sustainability is embedded into the curriculum and promoted through whole school off-curriculum enrichment activities and our clubs programme, ensuring our pupils:
- Learn from and connect with nature
- Develop a knowledge and understanding of a world impacted by climate change and a desire to positively influence and inspire changes
- Develop, through practical experience, the skills required for green careers and to become Climate Leaders
EQUALITY DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
The values of equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of our commitment to “building a bright future for all”.
Through our Diversity Ambassadors, the school works to promote awareness and understanding of diversity within our school and the wider community. With teamwork and collaboration, they have created and delivered assemblies to their peers on topics including Black History Month, Diwali and Autism Awareness Month.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY & CITIZENSHIP
Developing kind and compassionate leaders for the future is an important part of our Global Curriculum.
We encourage our pupils to get involved in community organisations and charities, to think about how their decisions positively impact society, and to be the changemakers in the world around them.
ETHICAL ENTERPRISE
Ethical enterprise is embedded into learning at Colchester Prep & High School to ensure our pupils understand how to incorporate pressing global social, environmental and economic issues into their decision-making.
Through their PSHE lessons, our Young Enterprise Club and the launch of our Business GCSE in Sept 2023, our pupils learn about how business can make a positive impact on the world and how we can make it a more equal, fairer and sustainable place.
