SENIOR SCHOOL

READY FOR AN EXCITING FUTURE

Our Senior School provides an excellent education, fostering academic success and developing confident, balanced 21st-century learners.

With a broad curriculum, strong pastoral care, and robust assessment, our teachers empower pupils to achieve their ambitions. Extensive extracurricular opportunities cultivate character, leadership, and social responsibility, making Colchester Prep & High School a gateway to an exciting future.

OUR APPROACH

PREPARING EVERY PATH TO SUCCESS

To achieve academic excellence beyond the classroom, we encourage pupils to develop leadership, resilience, and self-belief alongside mastery of their subjects and interests.

We empower pupils to take ownership of their learning through a variety of activities, making their education meaningful and fulfilling while preparing them for A-levels and future challenges.

KEEPING PUPILS ON TRACK

Staff are passionate about developing pupils' academic progress alongside their well-being, and are committed to carefully monitoring the pupil's journey as they progress through the school.

For any pupils with special educational needs, our SEND Team will assess and design an individualised provision map in consultation with the pupil, teachers and parents. This is regularly reviewed to ensure the needs of pupils are constantly in focus.

CREATING PIONEERS OF THE FUTURE

Pupils achieve academic excellence by actively engaging in lectures, clubs, leadership roles, and collaborative projects across the school.

As a Microsoft Showcase School, we challenge them to apply 21st-century learning principles to real-world problems, tackling social, economic, and environmental issues. With a strong focus on creativity, pupils are empowered to develop ideas and see them through to fruition.

PASTORAL CARE

EVERY TEACHER GETS TO KNOW THEIR PUPILS INCREDIBLY WELL

Our teachers understand how each pupil learns best, when they need support, when they need challenge, and when they may be struggling but hesitant to ask. Our Pastoral Team, led by Ms Allen, provides guidance on friendships, anxiety, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

With this exceptional support, pupils feel safe and secure, enabling them to focus fully on learning and developing their talents.

In our experience the teaching staff have been incredible. Their enthusiasm for the pupils' success is evident in every subject. We have found the school to be nurturing and supportive.

Extra Curricular & clubs

READY TO EXPLORE ALL THEIR TALENTS

Our extensive extracurricular programme develops a global perspective that builds character and leadership and develops social responsibility.

Clubs are booked on a termly basis and may vary during the year and by year group.

Clubs include:

JOIN US FOR AN OPEN DAY

At Colchester Prep & High School we believe it is important for children to want to be here. That is why we regularly invite parents and children to visit our school.

LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

READY TO DETERMINE THEIR PLACE IN THE WORLD

To prepare our pupils to be global changemakers, they are given numerous opportunities to develop leadership skills by actively participating in school decisions that shape both their own lives and those of their peers.

Opportunities include:

TRIPS

READY TO EXPAND THEIR HORIZONS

We see trips as a vital part of learning, enhancing our Senior School pupils’ education through hands-on experiences. Recent trips have included visits to Ypres, Berlin, the Tate Modern, Colchester Firstsite, Cambridge, the Imperial War Museum, the Science Museum, the Ardèche, and various London theatres including the Globe.

Pupils also have opportunities for adventure and outdoor learning through Senior School ski trips and visits to Cognita Active Learning Group centres in Cuffley, South Wales, and Snowdonia. Year 7 begins with an exciting trip to Cuffley, where pupils build friendships while learning skills such as cooking on an open fire, throwing a tomahawk, setting traps, and building dens.

BEGIN AN UNFORGETTABLE ADVENTURE

From Nursery through to Year 11, we are on a constant journey of getting to know and understand every pupil as an individual.
