Tree Donated by Poplar Nurseries Planted in Honour of Captain Sir Tom Moore
Martha in Year 6 is passionate about the importance of trees for our environment and wellbeing and has been working with Poplar Nurseries to donate some trees for the School. Yesterday, on the one year anniversary of the Covid Lockdown, Ms Gracie-Langrick had the pleasure to join with Martha and her Year 6 Senior Prefects cohorts to plant a Cherry Tree; the first of the trees so generously donated.
As a group, the pupils felt it was most fitting to name the tree, Captain Sir Tom Moore, after the legendary 100-year-old, who raised almost £33m for NHS charities and who sadly died in February. We hope that this tree will symbolise the passing of this year in Lockdown, reminding us all at CHS of our own fortitude and resilience, and act as an inspiration, of an individual who sought to buoy the nation’s spirits with his actions and his words. Remember, “Tomorrow will be a good day …. the sun will shine on you again, and the clouds will go away.”
