Senior School PGL Trip 2017 Blog

Day 3 Blog
We were pleased to see the sun shine yesterday and the morning kicked off with a game of basketball before breakfast. Fully fuelled and ready for the day, the boys enjoyed the high ropes and a game of aeroball (think netball on trampolines). Both activities involved team work and the PGL staff were very impressed with how both groups encouraged each other and worked as a team. After a delicious lunch the boys went climbing, where they learnt how to belay and climb safely. By now, both groups are feeling very confident with rope activities and have consistently surpasses their own expectations. The final activity of the day was mountain biking, where we learnt how to control a mountain bike over different terrain, whilst hearing stories and local legends. Looking forward to dinner and some down time, the PGL staff were pleased to report how polite and courteous the boys have been during this trip. After an hour of their own time, both groups built and lit their own campfire (under the supervision of the PGL staff) and toasted marshmallows under the forest canopy. After a busy day they were certainly ready for bed and looking forward to our morning at the beach.
Day 2 Blog
After a wet and windy day yesterday, we were greeted by sunshine this morning. The boys had a great day challenging themselves on a range of on-site activities. The day started with a game of basketball followed by a delicious breakfast. Then the boys were off for their first activities. Groups alternated between the terrifying trapeze and skilful rifles. Many overcame a fear of heights as they scaled the wobbly trapeze pole and took a ‘leap of faith’ as they jumped of the platform. Unbelievably, all our students took part wowing the PGL staff. Then the boys showed off their skills and aimed for the bullseye on the rifles. The afternoon was spent on the zip wire and orienteering. Again the boys amazed staff by all taking the plunge on the zip wire, again many overcoming fears and coming off it smiling. Then the boys worked together to map read their way around the lovely site. After a much needed dinner and re-fuelling, the boys headed to their evening activity. An evening named ‘splash’ where as you can guess the boys took part in many water activities and ended the activity with a water fight.
Day 1 Blog
The journey to PGL went very smoothly including stops at Reading and Bristol. Upon arrival at about 3 pm, the students settled into the accommodation and had a tour of the site. They then all went to dinner and the PGL shop for all their healthy treats……
After dinner the students played capture the flag on the field and loved it, they were in two teams and tried to steal the other teams flag without getting tagged.
Students settled down into their room by 10 and after gossiping most were asleep by 10.30.
Today we are heading to the beach for blokarting and back onsite for orienteering and zip wire this afternoon.
The weather is much better today and we are looking forward to a great day.
