As we return to school, we can look back with pride on the online teaching and learning provision offered by Colchester High School to our pupils during the COVID lockdown. Technological innovation and digital literacy have clearly been a major transformer of education and of the way in which we have taught our pupils and it has been so reassuring to see how our children have embraced learning on line and developed into autonomous learners. Going forward we need to ensure they do not lose these skills.
I would also like to reassure all our parents that in an uncertain world, we remain prepared for any eventuality and are committed to ensuring an uninterrupted education for your child and are prepared to react to any localised situations that may arise, seamlessly switching to online teaching and learning if and when necessary. Educational technology is re-shaping the classroom experience for learners of all ages and using the 1-2-1 devices that will be issued to every pupil from Year 3 in the Autumn Term I will ensure that we continue to build on the digital learning initiatives put in place last year.
It has been so lovely to receive such positive feedback from our parents regarding our programme. In a recent parental survey
97.7% of parents felt that the school day was well structured;
94.4% of parents believed that the school did a good job providing teaching and learning;
93.3% felt that the school provided adequate technical support; and
91% believed that the school was aware of their child’s wellbeing during online teaching.
Most importantly though it has been so warming and reassuring to know how much the children enjoyed online learning and how it has made such a difference to their wellbeing.
