LOWER SCHOOL PUPILS AT COLCHESTER HIGH SCHOOL ACHIEVE EXCELLENT RESULTS IN THE ESB EXAMS.

Colchester High School is today celebrating outstanding results of 15 pupils in their Lower School who participated in the English Speaking Board Exam on the 9th of March.  In total, the pupils received 12 distinctions, 2 merit pluses and 1 good pass.

Mrs Bickersteth, Head of the Lower School, said “The results of the ESB exams are superb. Many of the pupils who have taken the ESB exams this month had never taken an exam like this previously. It is so wonderful to see how they have developed their confidence and enriched their learning”.

Joshua Wallace, in Year 4, said “I really enjoyed participating in the English Speaking Board exams and I hope to be an ESB Teacher or examiner when I leave School”.

Pupils from Year 3 are invited to participate in the English Speaking Board programme.  The talks presented included a wide range, reflecting the children’s individual choices and included a range of topics including Lego, cricket, Albert Einstein and Growing Plants.

Colchester High School is one of only a few schools in the area to be registered as an English Speaking Board exam centre. These exams are assessed by an external examiner and are designed to test candidates’ skills in presentation, discussion, group-management, literary analysis, listening and audience participation.
