The Junior School

Our Junior Department provides a traditional academic education for boys and girls from seven to eleven years. Our small class sizes and a strong pastoral care ensure that each child is challenged, supported and encouraged to fulfil their potential.

Through a shared vision of the school's purpose and ethos, the moral imperative that every pupil can succeed is inherent. Each classroom is organized and managed, to proved an efficient, effective and safe learning environment, where all pupils can achieve success and become engaged in their own learning.

The Junior Department offers well-planned and well-paced lessons, based on clear and precise learning objectives, which are shared with the pupils. A positive 'can do' attitude is promoted where the pupils see themselves as learners and expect to succeed, This is supported by allowing the children to think aloud, explaining and questioning their work and developing their skills of learning which feed into all areas of the curriculum.

The curriculum is broad-based and actively promotes strategies for ensuring inclusion, diversity and access. The school works effectively and efficiently towards progressing the academic, spiritual, moral, social, emotional and cultural development of all its pupils.

Many of our pupils progress into our Senior School, although we do prepare pupils for the 11+ examination of selective schools.

Hot school lunches are available as an optional extra in years 3 and 4. School lunches are not available from Year 5 onwards where all pupils have packed lunches.
