Clubs & Extra Curricular Activities
We offer a huge variety of clubs and activities for children in all areas of the school to participate in. These take place either during the lunch break or after school. These include Computer clubs, Sewing club, Chess club, Art club, Eco-schools, Film club, Board Games club, Fencing, Tag Rugby, Spanish, Italian, Archaeology, Football and many more. A full timetable of clubs available is published at the beginning of each term. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
The school also offers pre-school and after school care clubs for our youngest pupils. Older pupils can go into the Breakfast Club before school which is available from 7.30am and a 'prep' homework club is provided until 4.30pm each day where students can do their homework with the guidance of a member of staff to help or answer any questions as well as ensuring that work is completed.
Opportunities for our pupils to participate in a varied range of out of school activities and trips are numerous: from mountain walking to theatre trips, from gardening to charity work, from art galleries to ecological improvement.
We organise a full range of day and residential trips, to complement our classroom teaching, providing an all-round education for our pupils. These have previously included residential trips in the to the battlefields at Ypres, Berlin and France and joint residential trips for years 5, 6, & 7 to Winmarleigh, Lancashire as well as for the lower school: Day trips to the Hollytrees museum, Duxford and Abberton Reservoir are all part of the school calendar. There is also the opportunity for some students to take part in a skiing holiday during the school holidays.
The new Study Centre at Oxford Road has the facilities for many activities including after school cookery courses.
