CHS MUSIC EXTRA

Our Music Department believes that music education goes far beyond what happens in the music classroom. A wide programme of extra curricular activities is essential to enrich and develop students’ musical experience.

We are an enthusiastic, energetic and growing department that takes pride in the hard work that our students put in making sure that music events are a success. Events last year included the Nativity Play, Junior and Prep Productions, the Talent show, Christmas Carol Service, collaboration Christmas Showcase at the Headgate Theatre in Colchester, Junior/Senior Choirs participation at the Young Voices concert at the O2, the production of the musical Back to the eighties and the Summer Concert. Pupils have also the opportunity to take part in the provision of music for other school events such as assemblies, open days and prize giving amongst others.

Currently we offer the following extra curricular activities: Prep Choir, Beat and rhythm (Y1 and Y2), Prep Performance workshop, Junior Choir, Junior African Drumming, Junior Junk Orchestra,Senior Choir, Senior school Band, Senior African Drumming, Y11 Composition club and School’s Production Singers/band Rehearsals.
