Admissions

We take boys and girls from 2½ until 16 - Nursery to Year 11.

Children are able to join any Year group, if there are vacancies.

Selection policy

Admission is on the basis of assessment and behaviour but no pupil will be disadvantaged by the school by virtue of gender, race, religion or disability.

Application process

Each family and child is different, so the application process can vary a little depending on unique circumstances and time of year.

However, the usual application process is as follows:

Parents contact the school, basic details are taken and a prospectus and Registration form are posted to you.

Parents and children are invited for a personal tour of the school.   You will be shown around all the buildings and facilities and will meet some of the teachers and Heads of department.  The tour gives you an excellent opportunity to ask questions about all aspects of life and learning at Colchester High School.

The parents complete and return the Registration form and £50 non-returnable registration fee for each child.

Your child will then be invited to attend a "Taster Day".  During this day he or she will experience a normal school day, meet the children in his or her peer group and get to know the teachers.  The teachers and Learning Support department will make core subject assessments and any school reports and other material supplied will be considered.

Following the "Taster Day" the Principal will consider the application and. if appropriate, offer your child a place.

It is only on your completion and return of the Acceptance of Place form and deposit of £250 that the place can be secured.

How to apply

If you would like to come to visit the school, please contact the school either by phone, via the website or by email to info@colchesterhighschool.co.uk

The direct line for the Admissions Manager is 01206 217116.

If you wish to register your child for the school please return your fully signed registration form and £50.00 assessment fee.  All signatories to the registration of a pupil will be deemed jointly and severely liable for the payment of due charges.

A deposit of £250 is payable upon acceptance of a place.  This deposit is held and refunded against the final term's fees.  A term's notice must be given in writing if you wish to cancel the place (eg. before the start of the preceding Summer Term, for admission in the Autumn Term); notice received later than this will incur a term's fee in lieu of notice.
